Music/Tech Taster Workshops

Want to create and perform live music?

We need young musicians to help shape and perform the score for our Autumn Show The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – live at Wyeside Arts Centre, November 2025. If you want to be involved - now’s your chance! Read more about the show here.

We're bringing free workshops towns around Powys where you can have a go - even if you've never done it before!

You'll learn how to create music using live instruments, vocals, loop pedals and tech. No grades needed (although of course grade 8s are welcome too!). Run by community composer Jim Elliot.

Dates:

  • 19th July: 2-4pm – Presteigne Assembly Rooms
  • 20th July: 10am-12pm – Hanging Gardens, Llanidloes
  • 20th July: 4-6pm – The Lost Arc, Rhayader

All abilities welcome, age 14-24. Spaces are free - but limited. Booking is essential.

We will also be hosting two FREE Summer Schools this August:

  • Music/Tech Summer School  - following on from these the taster sessions, to help you build on your skills. Selected musicians will go on to perform live alongside a professional team. (18th - 19th August)
  • Theatre Summer School - for anyone who wants to act/perform and get to know their performance peers a bit better! (4th - 8th August)
