Melody Watson - MPYT Co-ordinator

Hello! I'm Melody, a former member of MPYT, and I've returned to Powys to co-ordinate the whole operation! It's really exciting for me to be back, as MPYT played a huge role in my decision to study Drama at university in Bristol.

I am currently assisting Big and Little MPYT sessions with Ralph (which consist of a lot of laughs), and I'm also in charge of the social media, so if you see me popping up all over instagram - that's why! I'm on a mission to engage the young people of Powys in theatre and the arts, because it MPYT was so important to me growing up and I want to see it continuing to help young people navigate the struggles of growing up.

I’m also a member of the MPYT+ group, which sent me to Green Man Festival 2 years in a row to perform (so fun!), and is offering me further training in leadership and directing. In autumn 2025, I was Assistant Director for 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night -Time' - an amazing experience.

Resources like this are so important in rural Powys – when I was a MPYTer, I travelled all the way from Welshpool to attend. It was so worth it though, and I feel really lucky to watch in real time how it is continuing to shape lives for the better.
